In that report Mr. Tutcher said that he had obtained from Singapore certain rubber plants - 124 in all - and that he had procured 200 plants of another rubber - bastiloa elastica, of Central America. He stated further that "we" are in a position to make extensive experiments: credit is due to my locum tenens for his intentions in regard to obtaining plants which he thought would be useful but, unfortunately, his intentions were not supported by sufficient knowledge of the requirements of the plants and the conditions prevailing here which it was intended they should be introduced to, or it did not receive due consideration.
